006: Dilruk Jayasinha – Never let a good education get in the way of a dream

admin Leave a Comment

Comedian Dilruk Jayasinha is one of the hottest stand-up comedians in Australia today. His talents have led to sold out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a regular guest spot on Network Ten’s quiz show, ‘Have you been paying attention?’.

In this Hard Knock Knocks comedy podcast interview, you’ll hear how comedian Dilruk Jayasinha first got started in stand-up comedy, how he followed his dream, and how you don’t necessarily need to sleep your way to the top.

NEWS FLASH! This interview was recorded before comedian Dilruk Jayasinha took out the ‘Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent’, at the 2018 Logie Awards, held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, beating out dramatic actors, including two from ‘Home and Away’. Dilruk, whose Twitter account went on radio silence, later resurfaced on Channel 9’s YouTube channel, apologising for not thanking the voters during his acceptance speech, and being his characteristic humble self. “I’ve never won an award before in the comedy world, except for one open mic competition or something like that, but this is so cool,” said Dilruk.
