The Melbourne International Comedy Festival dates for 2024 have been announced. They are Wednesday March 27 until Sunday April 21.
Established in 1987, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival ranks among the world’s top three comedy festivals, alongside the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival. Each autumn, this annual event takes over Melbourne, Australia’s comedy capital, with an extensive program spanning stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performances, film, television, radio, and visual arts.
With historical attendance figures hitting as much as 770,000, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival stands as Australia’s largest cultural ticketed event. The festival is known for its accessibility, with an average ticket price of just $32, and close to 7000 shows. It transforms the Melbourne Town Hall precinct into a comedy hub, offering diverse shows and performances by the best local and international comedy acts in venues of various sizes.
Previous Melbourne International Comedy Festivals have included shows produced by Hard Knock Knocks’ graduates. And in 2023, an incredible 11 graduates reached the State and National Finals of the Raw Comedy competition. This is Australia’s largest open mic comedy competition and begins in January each year, with heats taking place in every state and territory as well as in regional centres.
Melbourne International Comedy Festival dates for 2024 will come around soon, so be sure to book your seats soon.
